49ers Enterprises member emerges as NBA star confirms Leeds United investment

NBA star Larry Nance Jr has confirmed that he is a 49ers Enterprises investor as reports suggest their takeover of Leeds United edges closer. According to a report in the Daily Mail on Tuesday, 49ers Enterprises, the investment arm of NFL franchise San Francisco 49ers, are trying to push through their full purchase of the Whites from Andrea Radrizzani in the coming days.

The report claimed that the group contains more than 60 investors and Nance has confirmed on social media that he is one. Nance, a power forward for New Orleans Pelicans, having previously played for Cleveland Cavaliers alongside LeBron James and LA Lakers, was spotted posting a number of cryptic tweets earlier this week to hint at his involvement in the takeover.

The 30-year-old also donated very generously to The Square Ball’s cause as Leeds supporters prepare to walk 92 miles from Goodison Park to Elland Road for charity. Speaking to Whites fans on Twitter, Nance has been open about his involvement in the takeover, while he has also expressed his excitement to get on board at Elland Road.

“I’m ready for the ups and downs (hopefully more ups) that come with it,” Nance said in a reply to supporters. “I also think you’ll find I’m a bit more knowledgeable and appreciative of football than what you’ve come across in recent years from US fans. And yes. I call it football.”

Asked whether every investor would be due to undergo a fit and proper person test, Nance replied: “Being completely transparent with you, I have no idea.

“I’m a small part of a much bigger group, my say and opinion hold very little weight. Which is probably a good thing to be fair. I’m a bit reactionary.”

49ers Enterprises have held shares at Elland Road since making their first investment in May 2018. That stake in the club has been gradually increased to 44 per cent in recent years and, despite the club’s relegation from the Premier League, they appear ready to complete a full takeover.
