This is a really cool thing 49ers defensive lineman Arik Armstead is doing.
Armstead posted an educational video on TikTok where he walks fans through how an NFL game check works. We so often just see the salaries and signing bonuses and restructures, but it’s very rare to actually see how that gets broken down on a game-by-game basis. It’s also rare to see exactly how much lands in a player’s bank account on a per-game basis.
The 49ers’ veteran defensive lineman shows a paystub (which looks exactly like a normal paystub, FYI) and walks through a couple different areas of it, including how much hit his account, how much he made pre-tax, and how his base salary and signing bonus from a recent restructure factored into that number.
It’s awesome to see a player give that kind of access to give fans just another layer of insight into how things work in the world of working as an NFL player.
