The 49ers sent four draft picks to the Panthers in exchange for star running back Christian McCaffrey in a deal they didn’t have any control over if you ask star 49ers tight end George Kittle.
Kittle in an interview with Damon and Ratto on 95.7 the Game in San Francisco said he’s been telling his good friend McCaffrey for years that the two would be teammates in San Francisco.
“I’ve been speaking this into existence for about two years,” Kittle said via 95.7 the Game. “Me and Christian have been pretty good friends for a while. I told him, ‘hey, we just gotta get you in our run game and I promise you you’re gonna have a really good time.’ It finally happened.”
McCaffrey has been excellent since joining the 49ers ahead of Week 7. In three games he’s up to 288 yards and three touchdowns on 54 touches. He also threw a 33-yard touchdown pass in Week 8 against the Rams.
Kittle, the man with a tattoo on his forearm of Batman’s arch-nemesis the Joker, hinted that there may have been some sort of superpowers behind his manifestation.
“I watch a lot of superhero movies. I might have some powers, you never know,” Kittle said. “The Christian McCaffrey thing was definitely one of my better achievements, I will say. So, you guys are welcome.”
In reality it was likely the four draft picks the 49ers unloaded that made the deal happen. San Francisco fans should probably thank Kittle anyway though just in case.
