Shortly before kickoff on Monday Night, the San Francisco 49ers ruled All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey inactive against the New York Jets due to an ankle/Achilles injury. The same injury kept McCaffrey sidelined for all of the preseason.
Now, McCaffrey’s status is in question for Week 2 against the Minnesota Vikings. Prior to Wednesday’s practice, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that McCaffrey would be limited in practice.

If McCaffrey is unable to go, Jordan Mason will be in line for another heavy workload in Week 2 against the Vikings. Mason had a breakout performance against the Jets on Monday, rushing for 147 yards and a touchdown.
The 49ers are scheduled to meet Sam Darnold and the Vikings in Minnesota on Sunday at 10 a.m. PT.
