Police issued a dispersal order after reports a number of cars had gathered at an Asda car park and were "causing a nuisance". Officers were called to the store at Dowlais Top, Merthyr Tydfil, at around 8.10pm on Sunday (February 12).
There were around 40 vehicles at the scene when police got there and a dispersal order to "prevent and deter anti-social behaviour" was put in place between 9pm on Sunday and 5am on Monday.
Inspector Jonathan Duckham said: “Behaviour of this nature will not be tolerated. We are working closely with local authority and recently had a productive meeting with Asda and they are looking to install ANPR cameras at the location.”
Local councillor Declan Sammon said there had been reports of a "near miss" at the event which is why police were called.
He welcomed news that a dispersal order had been put in place and a number of issues involving 'car meets' in the car park.
Adding: "This follows news in the last few days that ASDA are installing a 'Parking Eye' system to help deal with ASB from 'Car Meets' at the Dowlais Top store.
"Thank you to South Wales Police and ASDA for working with local councillors and the local authority to help stop this anti-social behaviour."
