Around 40 individuals out of the roughly 100 people who established a pro-Palestinian encampment at the Auraria Campus in Denver were arrested on Friday, as reported by the campus authorities. The Auraria Campus, which houses the University of Colorado Denver, Community College of Denver, and Metropolitan State University of Denver, witnessed the arrests carried out by the Auraria Higher Education Center Police and the Denver Police Department.
Initially, the gathering on Thursday began peacefully; however, as the protest progressed, some participants decided to set up an encampment, contravening campus policies. In response to this violation, campus and education department officials instructed students to dismantle the encampment and disperse. Despite repeated written and verbal requests, the protestors did not comply, leading to law enforcement intervention around 12:30 p.m. on Friday to remove the encampments.
