Recent reports from Lebanon have highlighted a devastating toll on ambulance and firefighting staff in the country. Health Minister Firass Abiad revealed that in the past three days alone, forty emergency responders have lost their lives. This tragic loss adds to the already alarming statistics, with a total of 97 paramedics and firefighters having been killed by Israeli strikes since October 8 of the previous year.
The overall death toll in Lebanon has now reached 1,974 since the same date, with 127 of the victims being children and 261 women. The situation escalated further when seven medics associated with the Hezbollah-affiliated Islamic Health Authority were killed in an Israeli strike on central Beirut.
Minister Abiad emphasized the importance of international laws that protect medical institutions, ambulances, and healthcare workers. These laws are in place to safeguard those who are on the front lines of providing critical assistance during times of crisis.
