4 Rangers stars face raging caller's fury as Gio van Bronckhorst gets a new nickname - Hotline

Rangers fans aren’t the happiest with their lot at the moment. Certainly not when Gio van Bronckhorst lists yet another squad without the name of Aaron Ramsey on it.

Alan Milligan, emailed: “Ross Wilson and Rangers medical team need replaced. The January window was a complete failure and the medical team have previous for signing unfit players.”

Gary McDonald added: “What’s going on with Ramsey? At this rate, Lord Lucan will have made more appearances for Rangers.”

Harry McCoy is not best pleased with the Rangers team either. He said: “Giovanni van Bronckhorst has to sort his defence out. Barisic is terrible - so easily closed down, passes back to the keeper and puts him under pressure. Bassey is the only one who is any good. The rest of the back line can’t defend. Goldson is a rubbish defender, Tavernier is never in defence - he should be told he’s a defender first and not a forward. McGregor is past his sell-by date and McLaughlin should get a shot, let’s see what he can do. Forwards are scoring goals but that defence is leaking like a sieve.”

But Gary Stevenson, Newtonhill, said: “I see that Celtic have asked if there is a Sydney Conference Cup should they lose early in the Sydney Super Cup. It seems a long way to go for just 90 minutes.”

Van Bronckhorst’s plea for VAR to be introduced as soon as possible prompted a couple of calls.

Arrin Geddes, Irvine , said: “I’m not sure who Jimmy Mac is accusing of cheating on the Hotline but VAR will come and as Super Ally once said 'be careful what you wish for.' The loudest shouters usually only see what they want to see and won’t be appeased by facts when confronted with them.”

Brian McColligan said: “If it’s not Gio VAR Bronckhorst moaning about borderline decisions, it’s their fans moaning about added time they think only Celtic get. Their own team had 8 mins against Dundee United. Selective memories methinks.”

And Hibs fan Graeme Campbell from Leith said: “I have to disagree strongly with Jimmy Mac. Scottish refs aren’t cheating - they’re just really bad at their jobs.”

Carson Reddick wasn’t happy to have two FA Cup ties on terrestrial TV at the same time on Tuesday night. He said: “We had coverage of two English football games at prime time, BBC One Scotland and Scottish TV. I do not pay my TV Licence to watch this. I pay for entertainment. If I want to watch English football I have the option to watch on other channels so why are we here in Scotland subject to this shoved down our throat?”

Finally, Robbie Devlin emailed to back Josh Taylor after his controversial points win on Saturday.

He wrote: “Am I missing something here? The only judge who gave the fight to Catterall did so by a point.

“This was after the ref warned Catterall from the second round for holding and did so every round until he took a point off in the 10th.

“He and the commentators missed him punching Josh Taylor when was on the floor after getting knocked down, this could have resulted in disqualification or at least another point taking off him. He then runs for the last four rounds of a world title fight.

"Josh Taylor wasn’t at his best but did Catterall deserve to take the titles? Me and the judges certainly didn’t think so.”
