4 Panthers players Saints fans need to know headed into MNF showdown

The New Orleans Saints have their first divisional matchup of the season versus the Carolina Panthers on Monday Night Football. The Saints look to keep pace with the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers who are both undefeated this year. In order to do that, they must defeat the Panthers.

The Panthers may have lost their first game, but there is definitely some talent on their roster. These are two Panthers players to watch on offense and defense in preparation for the game. Circle their name and look for them on Monday Night.

Brian Burns is a premium threat rushing the passer off the edge. Three plays into the first game of the season, he forced a strip sack. He’s in a contract season, so he’ll be especially motivated each week. Burns has the ability to wreck the Saints offense.

QB Bryce Young

The dynamic rookie quarterback is entering his second game as a pro. Young’s debut wasn’t the one he wanted, but they say the most improvement comes between Week 1 and Week 2. The Saints are also going to have to account for his legs when rushing the passer.

LB Frankie Luvu

A familiar comparison for Luvu is former Saints linebacker Kaden Ellis. Luvu is an off ball linebacker who will also line up on the line of scrimmage to rush the passer. He does both very well. Last year, he totaled over 100 tackles, 19 tackles for a loss, and seven sacks. Look for 49 all over the field, because he can make impact plays wherever he lines up.

RB Miles Sanders

In addition to Young, Sanders is a player to watch on the Panthers offense. He was heavily featured in the Panthers’ season opener with 18 carries. The team’s leading rusher also has had high success against the Saints in his career. He’s averaged 90 yards per game and 6 yards per carry in 3 matchups versus New Orleans.
