There were 29 more Covid-19 fatalities and 4,099 confirmed new cases reported on Sunday, as the daily figures continued downwards, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said on Monday.
Sunday’s figures did not include 4,789 positive results from antigen tests over the past 24 hours. This would raise the total to 8,888.
This compared with the 31 coronavirus-related fatalities and 4,739 new cases reported on the previous day, when the death toll dropped to its lowest since Feb 20.
As of Sunday, a total of 51,006 people were receiving Covid-19 treatment (down from 55,792 the previous day), including 20,220 in hospitals (down from 20,487). Of the remainder 5,814 were in field hospitals/hospitel facilities (up from 5,504) and 24,709 in home/community isolation (down from 29,526).
Of those in hospital, 1,042 were seriously ill with lung inflammation (up from 1,031) and 521 dependent on ventilators (up from 509).
Of the seriously ill patients, Bangkok had the most cases at 99, followed by 59 in Ubon Ratchathani, 56 in Nakhon Ratchasima, 55 in Suphan Buri and 41 in Chaiyaphum.
The 24-hour period also saw 8,856 patients discharged from hospitals after recovering.
According to the CCSA, the 29 people who died were aged from 36 to 96 years.
Bangkok logged one new death and there was another fatality in the adjacent province of Nakhon Pathom.
Other central plains provinces further from the capital had nine deaths - two each in Suphan Buri and Ratchaburi and one each in Nakhon Sawan, Samut Songkhram, Saraburi, Prachin Buri and Prachuap Khiri Khan.
The North reported four deaths - in Chiang Rai, Kamphaeng Phet, Lamphun and Lampang.
The Northeast reported 13 covid-related fatalities - four in Yasothon, three in Nakhon Ratchasima, two each in Nakhon Phanom and Roi Et and one each in Khon Kaen and Si Sa Ket.
The South had one death, in Phuket.
Af the 4,099 new cases on Sunday, there were 4,097 in the general population, none among prison inmates and two imported cases from Japan.
Of the new infections in the general population, 4,085 were confirmed at hospitals and 12 via mass testing.
Bangkok continued to lead the most daily cases at 1,425 followed by 161 in Surin, 149 in Buri Ram, 94 each in Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan, 92 in Pathum Thani, 87 in Roi Et, 86 in Khon Kaen, 84 in Chon Buri and 82 in Ubon Ratchathani.
Since the pandemic started in early 2020, there have been 4,415,593 Covid-19 cases, including 2,192,158 his year, with 4,334,812 complete recoveries to date.
The accumulated death toll stood at 29,775 since the beginning of the pandemic, including 8,077 so far this year.
Global Covid-19 cases rose by 476,103 in 24 hours to 527.68 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 476 to 6.30 million.
The United States had the most cases at 85.00 million, up 19,979, and the most deaths at 1.02 million, up 22.
