39-goal former Liverpool striker reveals custom boots with x-rated message to Tory party

Wrexham superstar Paul Mullin has taken to social media to display his newest pair of custom-made football boots that pay homage to his boyhood city of Liverpool and the city's social status.

Mullin, who was born in Litherland, was on the Reds' books as a youngster before moving down the divisions to forge a successful career in the English Football League.

Having enjoyed stints at sides such as Morcombe, Swindon and closer to home Tranmere Rovers, Mullin joined Wrexham in the summer of 2021 after the club was purchased by Hollywood pair Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney months earlier. He has since been in red-hot form for the National League side - firing 39 league goals in 54 league games.

The forward will be hoping to continue that impressive striker rate in the coming weeks and months and subsequently support the Robbins' goal of achieving promotion to League Two. Helping him do that will be the striker's new pair of Nike Mercurial boots which have been uniquely customised at his request.

The blacked-out edition of the boots feature a damning message to the Conservative Party, with, 'F**k the Tories' illustrated on the side of his new cleats. Mullin also had the famous Liverpool skyline stencilled on the reverse side of his boots, with the Radio City Tower and the city's Cathedral just a few of the eye-catching landmarks on exhibition.

Taking to Instagram to post the creation to his 23,100 followers, Mullin also tagged well-known Liverpool fan, musician and fellow scouser Jamie Webster who has frequently used his platform to voice his unease about those currently in power at Number 10 Downing Street.

Mullin's post came just days after Prime Minister Liz Truss resigned from her position after just 45 days in office, making her the shortest-serving leader in the country's history. On Monday afternoon it was announced that former Chancellor Rishi Sunak had won the Conservative Party Leadership Election and would succeed Truss - who he had rivalled for the position during the summer months - and will officially take to the office for the first time on Wednesday.

Mullin and Webster are not the only Liverpool-born stars to use their platforms to voice their displeasure at the Tories, as MMA fighter Molly McCann - from Norris Green - celebrated her TKO victory over Hannah Goldby at the UFC London in July by grabbing the PA microphone and singing, “F*** the Tories”.
