361 test positive, 369 recover

The State reported 361 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, when 18,040 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

The active cases in the State has dropped to 2,467. A total of 369 persons were reported to have recovered from the disease on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, the total number of patients admitted with moderate or severe COVID in hospitals across the State stood at 193. New hospital admissions on the day was 44.

The State declared three more COVID deaths which had occurred in the last few days, but which were declared in the last 24 hours.

The State also added 29 pending deaths to the official list of COVID fatalities. These are deaths which have now been accepted as COVID deaths by the government as per the new guidelines of the Centre and following the appeals filed by families.

The official cumulative case fatality in the State rose to 68,228. Of these, 32,401 (47.4 %) deaths were added after October 2021, following the death reconciliation exercise.

The State’s cumulative COVID-19 burden now stands at 65,34,713 cases.

Among the districts, Ernakulam reported the highest number of new cases with 117 cases followed by Thiruvananthapuram 56, Kozhikode 33, Kottayam 31, Thrissur 27, Kollam 24, Pathanamthitta 15, Alappuzha 15, Idukki 11, Kannur 9, Malappuram 8, Wayanad 8, and Palakkad 7 while Kasaragod has no cases.
