The addition of Ogbonnia Okoronkwo will improve the Cleveland Browns pass rush but more talent and depth are needed. Drafting Auburn’s Derick Hall in the 2023 NFL Draft would provide good depth as a pass rusher and also a great run defender. Hall is explosive off the line of scrimmage with a quick first step that he uses to blow past offensive linemen on the outside on his way to the quarterback.
This year’s draft class has plenty of talent along the defensive line to continue to retool the unit. Normally winning with speed Hall has good strength to switch between speed and power with good results. He has inconsistent hands but if his pass rush technique is improved he has the physical tools to be a consistent rusher.
As nice as his pass rush skills are Hall is an even better run defender setting the edge to prevent explosive runs outside. Auburn had hall play with both his hand in the dirt and as a stand-up rusher who could drop into coverage with decent results as well. He moves well in spaces with good speed to track down running backs and make an impact in the running game.
