Zimmer Biomet Holdings, Carnival and J.M. Smucker were the top three S&P 500 index gainers on the stock market today. MarketAxess Holdings, Monolithic Power Systems and Ceridian HCM Holdings were the S&P 500's biggest losers on Tuesday.
ZBH stock rose 2.6% to 129.17, trading between its 50-day and 200-day lines. Zimmer Biomet, which makes orthopedic and dental implants, is rising with other medical device and products makers as the Covid wave ebbs.
CCL stock climbed 2.4% to 20.22, back above its 50-day line but well off intraday highs. Carnival announced record weekly bookings as travel fitfully recovers.
SJM stock advanced 2.3% to 137.77, rebounding from its 50-day line. The jam, peanut butter and other packaged foods maker has a 145.92 buy point, but arguably was flashing an aggressive entry Tuesday.
S&P 500 Losers
MKTX stock plunged 11% to 307.60 on the stock market, the lowest point since March 2020. The electronic bond marketplace reported March metrics early Tuesday, and investors were not pleased.
MPWR stock sank 7.4% to 439.38, tumbling below its 200-day line and nearing its 50-day line. In late March, Monolithic Power was flashing some aggressive entries, but chip stocks have sold off hard in recent sessions.
CDAY stock retreated 6.3% to 65.71, tumbling from its 50-day line.
