Five people were shot in Chicago Monday, including a Chicago police officer and a suspect in a West Side shootout.
- Two tactical officers stopped a car near Polk Street and Sacramento Boulevard around 9:15 p.m., police said. As they walked up to the car, the driver rammed into one of the officers. Someone in the car opened fire, striking one officer in the left pinky finger. The officers fired back, striking one person who was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious to critical condition. The other officer injured his ankle when he was pinned against the squad car.
- In Riverdale on the Far South Side, a 36-year-old man was shot around 12:10 p.m. in the 13100 block of South Corliss Avenue, police said. The man went to Roseland Community Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, police said.
Two other people were wounded in shootings in Chicago.
Over the weekend,three people were killed and 14 others were wounded in the city.
