3 Rangers burning issues as Ibrox changes give Giovanni van Bronckhorst food for thought

3 Rangers burning issues as Ibrox changes give Giovanni van Bronckhorst food for thought

LEON KING LOOKS THE REAL DEAL

Leon King was given his first Rangers start by manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst and he looked comfortable throughout. The 18-year-old knocked the ball about well and also was sharp defensively when called upon on the few occasions that Dundee United looked to break. Tony Watt was leading the line for the Tannadice outfit and King dealt with the experienced frontman well. With no further update on Connor Goldson’s future at Ibrox, Van Bronckhorst will be delighted to have a youngster like King coming through the ranks, who looks ready to be bedded into the first team when needed. A loan spell at a Premiership club next term could be the ideal move for him at this stage in his career.

AARON RAMSEY GIVES GIO SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

Aaron Ramsey returned from injury to start for Rangers at Ibrox. The Welshman was neat and tidy in possession, and he constantly looked to get opposition defence. Ramsey looked like he wanted to make an impression on his manager with two key finals coming up later this month. With Alfredo Morelos out and Kemar Roofe still battling back from injury, attacking options from midfield will be key, and Ramsey could well provide that much-needed threat that Rangers need. The former Arsenal man will certainly have given his manager something to think about.

YOUNGSTERS MAKE THEIR MARK

Alex Lowry, Charlie McCann and Adam Devine were all introduced from the bench on the 60th minute and the trio were given a fantastic reception by the Ibrox crowd. With the score sitting at 1-0 their introductions showed how much confidence Giovanni van Bronckhorst has in his youth products. All three talents looked determined to get on the ball to show what they can do. Devine bombed up and down the right flank in replacement of captain James Tavernier, while McCann and Lowry fitted in seamlessly to the Rangers midfield alongside Steven Davis and Aaron Ramsey. The future certainly looks bright at Ibrox.
