Three military jets have been seen flying over Nottinghamshire this morning. Residents in Kirkby in Ashfield were startled this morning at shortly before 11am at the sound of fighter jets flying above their homes.
This comes after exercise Cobra Warrior was announced, which has seen air forces from overseas arrive at RAF Waddington for training exercises. Multiple air forces, including the Royal Saudi Air Force, the Belgium Air Component and the Finnish Air Force touched down at the RAF base on Wednesday, March 1 ready for the 18-day international training exercise.
It has been reported that pilots from the United States, Sweden and Singapore will also be participating alongside our Royal Air Force for the training. India will also be contributing five Mirage 2000 fighter jets, two C-17 Globemaster III transport planes, and an IL-78 mid-air refueller aircraft.
Aircrafts have been heard across Nottinghamshire since the training has begun, with many residents in Newark and the surrounding villages hearing multiple flights during the evening of March 22. Due to the amount of aircrafts, temporary traffic restrictions have been put in place in some areas.
