3 Key Trends That Capture The ‘Ocean Girl’ Aesthetic

This month, designers showcased their Spring/Summer 2025 ready-to-wear collections across the globe at New York Fashion Week. We couldn’t help but notice one trend making waves across the runways—and it’s a look we’ll be embracing all summer long. We’re calling it the ‘ocean girl’ aesthetic.

At the time of writing, ‘Ocean Girl’ has 273.8M posts on TikTok, and the trend is only set to climb with this season’s new releases. We saw nautical stripes at Tommy Hilfiger and splashes of ocean blue across beachy ’fits at Ralph Lauren. Khaite sent slouchy, draped dresses down the runway while mesh sheer skirts reigned supreme at Simone Rocha.

The aesthetic extends into accessories too. Crystal jewellery brand Swarovski’s new collection—modelled by Karlie Kloss—builds on the aquatic feel of its previous collections, showcasing unique stone cuts, ocean-inspired colours and glittering pavé settings that shimmer in the sunlight.

So, how can you bring the aesthetic into your own wardrobe? We dive into the jewellery, fashion and beauty trends to embrace this season for ‘ocean girl’ vibes.

1. Pops Of Blue

The ‘ocean girl’ aesthetic is all about channeling the serene energy of the sea, and nothing captures that better than dressing in shades of blue. Start with accessories: Swarovski’s Millenia collection features pieces designed to evoke a flowing crystal river in shades of icy blue, aquamarine, and sapphire. We love the tonal ombré blue and green drop earrings, tennis bracelet and watch crafted from octagon-cut crystals.

Complete the look with a cobalt cap, cut-out linen dress or light blue glasses. If in doubt, blue accents are the easiest way to tap into the beachside trend.

2. Shimmer And Shine

When transitioning from the beach to the bar, dial up the look with something that catches the light at every turn. Think sequin embroidered handbags, sparkly mini dresses and statement jewellery with pavé settings. As seen in the new Sublima collection by Swarovski, pavé style is made up of small, closely set crystals that create a shimmering effect reminiscent of the ocean’s surface.

Glittering accessories can elevate any style—especially when paired with relaxed, lightweight dresses and glowing skin courtesy of bronzers and glow serums.

3. Organic Silhouettes

To channel ‘ocean girl’ energy, turn to free-flowing, breezy silhouettes when getting dressed. Get inspired by shapes and textures found on the ocean’s shore, like smooth sea glass, curved shells and polished pebbles. Swarovski’s latest collections are inspired by the ebbs and flows of nature, as Global Creative Director Giovanna Engelbert plays with form to create wavelike structures and organic movement. Style fluid jewellery with a combination of different silhouettes to add depth and interest to your outfit.
