Rangers have actively investigated the possibility of increasing the capacity of Ibrox.
Speaking at a CEO Fan Forum at the club's new Edmiston House complex, James Bisgrove detailed 3 "medium to long term" options to increase the size of the iconic 50,817 seater stadium.
With 10,000 people on the season ticket waiting list, the club's power brokers are acutely aware they could generate more revenue by increasing the size of the stadium - but feasibility studies have shown it would have to be backed with a significant initial outlay.
The cheapest option would be to add 1300 seats to each 'TV screen' corner at a cost of £3-4m per area.
To go the whole hog, remove the big screens and fill in the corners adjacent to the Sandy Jardine stand, it would cost £20-25m. This would add approximately 3000-4000 seats.
The final option investigated would be to lower the pitch, adding 4500 seats. At a total cost of £20-25m this would not only be the most expensive addition but the work could not be done in a summer, meaning Rangers would have to move to another stadium while work was carried out.
Work will take place over the next three summers to extend the capacity to 51,500 and put in state-of-the-art disabled facilities.
This comes after major capital expenditure projects to add the Blue Sky Lounge restaurant and New Edmiston House ot the club's footprint.
