The Chicago Bulls need to make some changes to their roster this summer. Arturas Karnisovas has stated the team has no intention of rebuilding, and if that’s the case, it cannot run back the same squad. The core pieces of Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic can stay, but additions are needed.
Chicago’s 3-point shooting is terrible, and it needs forward depth. Most of all, the Bulls need to add help at the point guard position. Coby White showed potential at the end of this past season, so he might develop into a starting-caliber guy, but Chicago should add depth.
To take it a step further, the Bulls should sign a veteran who could help mentor White and Ayo Dosunmu. Here are three veteran point guards the Bulls should target in free agency:
3 Coby White mentors for Chicago Bulls to target in free agency: Cory Joseph
Cory Joseph has been quietly carving out a solid role with the Detroit Pistons the past few seasons. With his solid 3-point shooting, he could give the Bulls decent minutes off the bench.
3 Coby White mentors for Chicago Bulls to target in free agency: George Hill
George Hill may not be able to give the Bulls a ton of minutes, but he has a great deal of experience around the league. His playmaking could still be a useful tool, too, but he would mainly be a mentor for the younger guys.
3 Coby White mentors for Chicago Bulls to target in free agency: Ish Smith
It may be hard to pry Ish Smith away from the reigning champion Denver Nuggets, but he would be a great get for the Bulls. He could give them a few minutes off the bench, but his experience is unmatched, and Chicago would be hard-pressed to find a better mentor for White and Dosunmu.
