3 burning Rangers issues as Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men make Europa League final

3 burning Rangers issues as Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men make Europa League final

An incredible European journey

MAKE no mistake, this is a quite unbelievable achievement for Rangers, and wider Scottish football.

Go back to a single goal earning Rangers a spot in the Europa League group stages with a win over Alashkert - from then the road to the final was unthinkable. Throw in a managerial change and it only adds to the accomplishment.

Now, with Borussia Dortmund, Red Star, Braga and RB Leipzig in their wake, Rangers have more than earned their place in the final.

Awaiting Rangers in the final is another German club; Eintracht Frankfurt.

It'll be a special occasion on May 18 when Rangers play in Seville for the trophy - and regardless of the result, this has been an incredible European showing from Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men.

Fitting tributes to club legend Jimmy Bell

RANGERS were united in mourning over the loss of Jimmy Bell earlier this week.

Before the match players and staff laid wreaths in memory of the legendary kit man.

A minute's silence was also held before kick-off with players of both sides wearing black armbands during the match.

Banners in the stands also paid tribute to Bell during the match, and the performance itself was a fitting tribute to the Ibrox icon.

Glen Kamara's celebration - when he kissed the black armband - after netting his side's second was another special moment for a special man among the Rangers players, staff and supporters.

John Lundstram meteoric rise continues

A Europa League final place was unthinkable, but Lundstram's rise to an integral player for Rangers was just as unlikely after some struggles early in Glasgow.

Now, Lundstram is among the first names on the team-sheet for Van Bronckhorst.

He's gone from a fringe player to a fan favorite and his crucial winner tonight will only have added to his fast-growing reputation at Ibrox.

It was a night for big players, and Lundstram delivered. So too did captain James Tavernier who again scored on the European stage.
