The State reported 291 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, when 15,531 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
The active cases in the State has dropped to 2,398. with 323 recoveries.
On Thursday, the total number of patients admitted with moderate or severe COVID in hospitals across the State stood at 193. New hospital admissions on the day were 36.
The State declared two more COVID deaths, one which occurred in the last 24 hours and another, which had occurred in the last few days, but which was declared in the last 24 hours.
The State also added 34 pending COVID deaths to the official list fatalities. These are deaths which have now been accepted as COVID deaths by the Government as per the new guidelines of the Centre and following the appeals filed by families.
In all, the official cumulative COVID-19 case fatality in the State rose to 68, 264. Of these, 32, 435 (47.4 %) deaths were added after October 2021, following the death reconciliation exercise
The State’s cumulative COVID-19 burden now stands at 65,35,004 cases.
Among the districts, Ernakulam reported the highest number of new cases with 73 case followed by Thiruvananthapuram 52, Kozhikode 30, Kottayam 36, Thrissur 19, Kollam 16, Alappuzha 15, Pathanamthitta 13, Idukki 9, Kannur 9, Malappuram 9, Palakkad 7, Wayanad 5, and Kasaragod 3.
