Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna announced that the total number of people arrested during the wildfires in Los Angeles has reached approximately 29. The arrests were made in relation to the ongoing fires in the Palisades and Eaton areas.
During a recent press briefing, Sheriff Luna provided details on the arrests that have taken place. In Palisades, one individual was arrested for violating the curfew and resisting arrest. In the Eaton area, a total of six arrests were made, with three individuals charged with curfew violations and three facing additional charges such as carrying a concealed firearm and narcotics-related offenses.
Of the 29 arrests, 25 were made in connection to the Eaton Fire, while the remaining four were related to the Palisades Fire. Sheriff Luna also highlighted a concerning incident where individuals were caught posing as firefighters to gain unauthorized access to homes. One such individual was apprehended while burglarizing a residence while dressed as a firefighter.
Sheriff Luna emphasized that many of the individuals arrested in the fire zones do not reside in the affected areas. He urged the public to refrain from entering these areas if they have no legitimate reason to be there, as unauthorized individuals are subject to arrest.
As the wildfires continue to pose a threat to communities in Los Angeles, law enforcement officials are working diligently to ensure the safety and security of residents. The arrests made during this time serve as a reminder of the importance of following evacuation orders and respecting the boundaries set by authorities during emergencies.
