
A 28-year-old man has been charged over allegedly assaulting a woman and setting a house alight, killing three dogs inside.
In a statement, NSW Police explained officers were patrolling Kaitlers Road in Lavington, a suburb of Albury in southern NSW, on Friday when they noticed smoke coming from a house on the street.
Fire and Rescue NSW were also called to the scene and the fire was extinguished, however the house was destroyed.
Police were told a 34-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted at the premises by a man known to her.
After the fire was extinguished, the bodies of three dogs were also found inside, police stated. There were no other injuries reported due to the incident.

On Saturday afternoon, a 28-year-old man was arrested by police at a property on Goolagar Crescent, in Springdale Heights.
He was taken to Albury Police Station and charged with six offences, including assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two breaches of Apprehended Violence Orders (AVO), intimidation and destroying property by fire.
He was refused bail and appeared before Wagga Wagga Local Court on Sunday.
