25-year-old woman dies at ex-footballer Michael Owen's stables

A young woman has died while working at stables owned by footballer Michael Owen. The 25-year-old woman fell ill at around 8.50am this morning (March 28) at the Manor House Stables, in Malpas, Cheshire.

She collapsed and emergency services attended the stables. However, Cheshire Police said she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her death is not being treated as suspicious. A file will now be prepared for the coroner.

The Twitter account for Manor House Stables posted a message online. It said: “It is with deep sadness that we have to announce that a much-valued member of our team died at work this morning. The family have been informed and both the family and the team at Manor House request privacy at this time.”

The stables is a training facility built by Michael Owen and his family in 2006. It has been the based for trainer Huge Palmer since last year.

Owen, 43, is a former England footballer. He played for Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle United, Manchester United and Stoke City.
