25 Y.O. In A Critical Condition Following Coward Punch In Newtown Last Night

An off-duty NSW Police Force officer is in critical condition after an alleged brawl in Newtown overnight, which left him unconscious on the street.

Emergency services were called to Enmore Road in Sydney’s Inner West just after 11 PM last night following reports of a serious assault.

On arrival, paramedics found a 25-year-old man – later confirmed as an off-duty officer – unconscious on the roadway.

A passing off-duty nurse performed CPR until paramedics arrived, and the officer was rushed to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

According to police, the injured officer and a second off-duty colleague were walking along Enmore Road when they were approached by three men who were arguing amongst themselves.

A violent altercation then ensued, during which the officer was knocked to the ground and repeatedly punched and kicked in the head.

The second off-duty officer, who sustained facial injuries, was treated at the hospital and has since been released.

The three men allegedly involved in the assault fled the scene before police arrived. However, following an investigation, two men — aged 18 and 20 — were subsequently arrested at a home in Mascot.

Inquiries are ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
