24 Hours in A&E viewers horrified by 'worst thing they've seen on TV'

People watching 24 hours in A&E had their stomachs turn when they watched the "worst injury they've ever seen on television".

The show that features on Channel 4 aired on Tuesday night and featured a woman called Kirsty with a compound fracture on her right leg. It was said that only a "little bit of skin" and "some ligament" held her foot in place.

Kirsty explains when she arrives at the hospital that she "jumped off an inflatable" that was about "three or four feet" off the ground.

A nurse explained: "She's going to need some ketamine." Nurse Lou Davis, who has worked in the department in Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham for 32 years, said it was possibly one of the "grimmest" injuries she had ever seen.

She admitted she 'didn't like wobbly bones' or blood and gore.

Viewers were shocked by the graphic scenes that unfolded in front of them, with a number of people taking to social media to comment on it.

One disgusted viewer wrote: "Genuinely think that broken ankle on 24 hours in A&E was the worst thing I’ve ever seen on TV."

Another added: "I’ve watched every series of 24 hours in A&E and have never seen anything as graphic as that foot."

"Well, that poor woman's foot hanging off in 24 Hours In A&E has made me too scared to even walk up the stairs again," one concerned person posted.

"Omgggg 24 hours in A&E !! Ankle hanging on by a thread… literally," a viewer commented.

The series began in 2011 and gives viewers insight to some of Britain's busiest A&E departments. The newest season only returned earlier this week, with it being the first episode filmed outside of London, the Mirror reports.
