24,134 new Covid cases, 115 deaths Thursday

There were 24,134 more confirmed Covid-19 cases and 115 more coronavirus-related deaths during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry reported on Thursday.

The case figures reported on Thursday did not include 19,054 positive results from antigen tests over the previous  24 hours. This would raise the total to 43,188.

There were 1,993 seriously ill patients in hospital with lung inflammation, and 846 on ventilators.

The 115 people who died were aged from 31 to 99 years with the average age 75. Two were from Myanmar and the rest were Thais.

Bangkok continued to report the most daily cases, 3,221, followed by 1,034 in Chon Buri, 909 in Khon Kaen, 746 in Nonthaburi and 731 in Nakhon Si Thammarat. The 125 imported cases came from 27 countries. They included 19 from Australia and 13 each from Germany and Cambodia.

Vaccinations continued, with 131.60 million doses administered as of Wednesday - 80.5% of the population having been given a first dose, 72.8%  two shots and 35.9% also having received a booster shot.
