The school was founded in 2001 as a private co-educational college-preparatory school, with a current total enrolment of 1000+ students. The first graduating cohort received their Diplomas in 2010.
Accreditations
Concordian is a member of the International Schools Association of Thailand (ISAT) and the East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS). It is also fully accredited by the International Baccalaureate (IB), the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the Council of International Schools (CIS).
IB Programme
With its holistic approach, the IB programme is a natural fit with Concordian’s mission to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who will play an active role as global citizens, leaders and lifelong learners. The IB programme is implemented in three stages tailored to meet the changing needs of students as they mature through school:
- The Primary Years Programme (PYP): Pre-K to Grade 5
- The Middle Years Programme (MYP): Grades 6 to 10
- The Diploma Programme (DP): Grades 11 and 12
Language Immersion
Language immersion is an educational model where curriculum activities are conducted in a language other than the student’s mother tongue. During the immersion programme years (Pre-K to Grade 4), the curriculum is approximately 45% English, 45% Chinese and 10% Thai. Through immersion, students acquire literacy skills and academic content at the same time. From Grades 5 to 12, the main language of instruction is English, while Chinese and Thai are studied as additional languages. Concordian International School is committed to language acquisition and believes that young children possess the ability to become multilingual at an early age. The school takes the best practices from around the world as well as the most current and proven research and models the programme so that everyone will be successful.
Teachers
Talented multinational and dedicated teachers make Concordian International School an outstanding place to study. All teachers are fully qualified, highly experienced, committed to the school mission and act as outstanding role models for the students. The teacher-to-student ratio is 1:4 and, according to data analysed by EARCOS, places the school among the best in the world. Concordian encourages the continuous professional growth of all teachers and provides funding for ongoing professional development.
University Acceptance
Concordian assists the students to make their dreams come true. With an average IB score of 36, compared to a world average of 31.98, Concordian graduates secure places at the world’s top universities. In 2022, prestigious international universities, including three Ivy leagues, offered places to Concordian graduates, among those - the University of Pennsylvania, Yale University, Columbia University, Purdue University, UC Berkeley, UCLA, King’s College London, Tsinghua University and many more.
What makes Concordian different
With the great combination of the IB programme and its language immersion programme, Concordian also believes that life and learning activities should never be separated. Students learn in real-life settings with various inquiries, projects and service activities. Concordian expanded its STEM education to STEAM which includes Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics. The programme is student-centered which develops every single student’s talents and competencies.
The Community and Service (CAS) programme gives the students an opportunity to extend themselves beyond the formal curriculum of study and apply knowledge in ways that will benefit both themselves and the community. It is a programme that develops students’ community awareness and concern as well as the skills needed to make an effective contribution to society. It is an opportunity for the students to see first-hand the difference they can make – personally, locally and globally. This is how Concordian fosters confidence and creates compassionate leaders.
The values of appreciation, respect, integrity, giving, responsibility, friendship, compassion and golden rule within the curriculum expose students to community service to serve others. Student-initiated service projects throughout the years at Concordian build young leaders with responsibility, morals, intellect, integrity and compassion to make a difference and a positive impact on others’ lives, society and the world.
