22,197 new Covid cases, 45 deaths Wednesday

The country registered 45 more Covid-19 fatalities and 22,197 new cases during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry announced on Wednesday morning.

There were 22,079 local cases and 118 imported ones.

On Tuesday, 19,093 Covid-19 patients left hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.

Since the pandemic started in early 2020, there have been 2,934,544 Covid-19 cases, including 711,109 cases this year, with 2,692,739 complete recoveries to date.

The death toll stood at 23,021 since the beginning of the pandemic, including 1,323 so far this year.

The highest number of Covid-related fatalities in a 24-hour period was 312 recorded on Aug 13, 2021. The previous highest number of cases was 25,615 on Feb 26.
