British Gas, SSE, Eon, Octopus and all 21 energy suppliers ranked from best to worst for customer service

Millions of households across the UK are likely to see a rise in their fuel bills from April once Ofgem reviews the current energy price cap next month.

The Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE) estimates that gas and electricity prices are set to increase by as much as 50% for some households when the energy price cap changes in April 2022.

With bills likely to rise, many could be forced to change energy suppliers in the coming months. Citizens Advice has compared 21 UK suppliers across five different categories and ranked how good their customer service is.

Using data from energy suppliers in December 2021, criteria the organisation looked at included complaints, ease of contact, clarity of bills, ease of switching and customer guarantee, with each category marked out of five and an overall score calculated.

How do I check my energy supplier if it is not listed?

If the supplier you want to check doesn't have an overall customer service rating they might not have given Citizens Advice a full set of data.
