There were 128 more coronavirus-related fatalities and 21,808 confirmed new cases on Thursday, the Public Health Ministry reported on Friday.
This compared with the 129 coronavirus-related fatalities and 21,931 new cases reported on Thursday morning.
There were 21,717 local cases and 91 imported ones.
On Thursday, 19,826 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus while 190,780 others were receiving treatment (up from 188,926 the previous day).
Friday’s figures did not include 20,635 positive results from antigen tests over the previous 24 hours. This would raise the total to 42,443.
As of Thursday, a total of 190,780 people were receiving Covid-19 treatment, including 49,711 in hospitals. The remainder were in hospitel facilities (40,118) or in home/community isolation (100,257), according to the daily update by the Department of Disease Control.
Of those in hospital, 2,021 were seriously ill patients with lung inflammation and 885 dependent on ventilators.Of the seriously ill patients, Bangkok had the most, 195, followed by 83 in Nakhon Ratchasima, 77 in Suphan Buri, 73 in Samut Prakan and 69 in Kanchanburi, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported on Friday afternoon.
It said the 128 people who died were aged from two years to 102, with the average age 76. One was from Myanmar and another from Sweden.
Bangkok reported 12 more deaths and there were 13 in adjacent provinces. Other central plains provinces further from the capital had 40 deaths.
The North reported 17 deaths, the Northeast logged 40 and the South six deaths.
Bangkok continued to report the most daily cases, with 3,562, followed by 923 in Khon Kaen, 882 in Chon Buri, 718 in Samut Prakan and 595 in Si Sa Ket. The 91 imported cases came from 20 countries, led by 14 arrivals from France and 12 from the United Kingdom.
Vaccination continued, with 132.09 million doses now having been administered to people. As of Thursday. 80.6% of the population had received one dose of vaccine and 73.1% two shots, while 36.2% had received a booster shot. Global Covid-19 cases rose by 810,560 over 24 hours to 507.80 million.
The worldwide death toll went up by 3,289 to 6.23 million.
Since the pandemic started in early 2020, there have been 4,128,038 Covid-19 cases, including 1,904,603 this year, with 3,909,738 complete recoveries to date.
The accumulated death toll stood at 27,520 since the beginning of the pandemic, including 5,822 so far this year.
