21,162 new Covid cases, 65 deaths Monday

The country registered 65 more Covid-19 fatalities and 21,162 new cases during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry announced on Monday morning.

There were 21,060 local cases and 102 imported ones.

The confirmed new cases did not include 24,236 positive results from antigen tests over the same period. This would bring the total number to 45,398.

On Sunday, 23,159 Covid-19 patients left hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus while 230,459 others were at hospitals.

Since the pandemic started in early 2020, there have been 3,047,857 Covid-19 cases, including 824,422 this year, with 2,794,098 complete recoveries to date.

The death toll stood at 23,300 since the beginning of the pandemic, including 1,602 so far this year.

The highest number of Covid-related fatalities in a 24-hour period was 312 recorded on Aug 13, 2021. The previous highest number of cases was 25,615 on Feb 26.
