Depending on who you talk to, removing the roof on a performance car either makes it better or worse. When the performance car in question is a V-12 Aston Martin Vanquish, frankly we struggle to see the downside. But whether you prefer your grand tourer open or closed, you now have the option to do it in a V-12 Vanquish. Here's the 2026 Aston Martin Vanquish Volante.
Thankfully, the powertrain is unchanged from the coupe. That means a 5.2-liter, twin-turbocharged 12-pot producing 824 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque, all turning the rear tires through an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox. For the record, it's the most powerful front-engined production car you can get, be it hardtop or convertible. It's also the fastest, with a top speed of 214 mph—identical to the fixed-roof Vanquish.
It does take just a bit longer to get there, however. The Vanquish Volante's official sprint from zero to 62 mph (100 kph) is 3.4 seconds. That's two-tenths of a second off the hardtop's pace, and you can thank the Volante's extra 209 pounds for it. Aston Martin calls the weight gain "minimal," though that should push the roofless Vanquish somewhere into the 4,300-pound range once fluids are added.
The upside is a reinforced chassis that Aston Martin claims is nearly as stiff as the coupe. Exact details on that process aren't mentioned, but the suspension does get Volante-specific tuning to go along with the Bilstein DTX dampers. Six-piston carbon ceramic front brakes with four-piston brakes at the rear do the stopping. It rides on the same Pirelli P Zero 21-inch tires as the coupe.
As you'd expect, the interior is also the same, right down to the pair of 10.25-inch digital displays, one for the driver and one in the center for the infotainment system. The only difference is a button to lower the K-fold fabric roof, which takes 14 seconds and can be done at speeds up to 31 mph. Raising the roof is a bit longer at 16 seconds, but with the roof up you can't hear the optional titanium exhaust system nearly as well. Unless it's pouring rain, just leave it down.

"With its stunning looks and outstanding V-12 engine producing more power than any other front-engine production car on sale, Vanquish Volante has taken this philosophy to an entirely new level."
Aston Martin doesn't mention a price for the new Vanquish Volante, but it will certainly cost more than the $434,000 coupe. Production begins in the third quarter of 2025; fewer than 1,000 will be built each year.
