2025's Colors of The Year – a roundup of all the paint colors announced so far

With fall very nearly upon us, we're looking ahead to 2025 following the just-launched color trends unveiled by leading paint and interior brands. Set to shape the colors to incorporate into our interior schemes next year, there are lots of reasons to keep a close watch on these anticipated shades.

So far, we've had a handful of brands already reveal their Color of the Year for 2025, and safe to say we're feeling inspired. From dark and moody hues (dark brown is proving popular thus far), to much lighter, calming paint colors, there's already a varied mix of shades set to inform next year's key color trends.

So, what new colors have been announced so far? Below, we've rounded up everything we know yet. Read on for a summary of the latest significant paint colors for 2025.

2025 paint colors of the year

Encore, Valspar

Kicking things off with a bold hue for the year ahead, Valspar's 2025 Color of the Year is called Encore, a rich navy blue that's simultaneously dramatic and timeless. Inspired to help make our homes feel welcoming and restful, Encore is a timeless shade that transcends design trends and can be tinted in a wide range of paint finishes, for all your interior and exterior projects.

Quietude, HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams

HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams 2025 Color of the Year has been revealed as Quietude, a 'cool sage green with a slight blue undertone'. A calming color that sits somewhere between blue and green, this in-between hue is a more adventurous replacement for neutrals in 2025, designed to complement traditional and modern homes alike.

In addition to Quietude, HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams also launched a color palette for 2025, called Naturally Refined. Spanning 10 hues, this color palette is inspired by a slow and sustainable pace to life, with neutral and earthy shades leading the way.

Rumors, Behr

Marking a shift away from decorating with blue, Behr's 2025 Color of the Year is a rich ruby red called Rumors. Coinciding with the general appeal we've seen in the design world for decorating with red, thanks to the unexpected red theory, this paint color is a sophisticated hue that isn't too vibrant.

Enabling homeowners to bring warmth and cozy appeal to their homes, this red paint can be used boldly with color-drenching ideas, or more sparingly in smaller doses. Either way, we expect to see lots of love for this shade since it's so timeless.

Elderton, Graham & Brown

Continuing the theme of dark paints, Graham & Brown's Color of the Year for 2025 is Elderton, a rich brown paint that boasts plenty of timeless appeal. Inspired by nature, this rich and alluring hue is all about an elevated take on decorating with neutrals in 2025, filling our homes with warmth and sophistication.

In addition to this standout hue, the interior brand also launched its 2025 Design of the Year, Rivington Folly. An intricate, whimsical print that takes its inspiration from British heritage, this intriguing design is bound to add plenty of character to our homes.

Raku, C2 Paint

Similarly, C2 Paint recently revealed Raku as its standout shade for the year ahead, a deep brown color with warm red undertones. While there's no denying the drama of this hue, it's also said to have restful qualities:

'Raku is an expression of balance, comfort, and timeless elegance,' explains Philippa Radon, C2 Paint Color Director. 'In a world where polarizing views can divide and isolate, Raku offers a palette that returns us to simple, grounding pleasures. This rich hue, with its deep cordovan earthy brown hue and sanguine undertones, embodies the art of revitalizing the old with the succession of its renewal – an echo of a timeless classic flourishing in a modern world.'

Violet, Minwax

Adding decorating with purple to the 2025 mix, Minwax named Violet as its Color of the Year. Designed to add joy to our homes, this intriguing hue is available in different paint finishes designed specifically for wood tones.

'Violet redefines interior wood finishing by blending timeless elegance with contemporary boldness,' says Lisbeth Parada, Minwax Color and Design Lead. 'Whether adding character to a cherished heirloom, revitalizing furniture, or creating inviting spaces like home coffee bars or reading nooks, Minwax Violet interior stain adds a touch of joy to any room. It inspires creativity and encourages homeowners to embrace their personal style, making everyday spaces extraordinary.'

2024 paint colors of the year

Spanning deep greens and rich blues, the standout paint colors for 2024 are significant for their ability to create warming and cozy atmospheres in the home.

Decorating with neutrals dominated home design in 2024 but with a revised twist. Rather than traditional beiges, we've seen paint brands elevate neutrals with a more exciting update, creating usable colors with depth and interest.

Establishing a more daring color trend for 2024, uplifting peach and terracotta tones have also been a popular choice this year, reflecting a theme of using home decor in an expressive way to create joyful and vibrant spaces.

Well-being in the home was no doubt a key theme for 2024, with many paint companies noting the uplift in desire for homeowners to create spaces that feel restorative and calming, acting as a separation from the fast pace of day-to-day life.

Cracked Pepper, Behr

Cracked Pepper was announced as the 2024 Behr color of the year for the California-based paint company. A soft black shade that is prized for its versatility, the color was designed to capture the warming and comforting effects associated with dark colors in the home.

With a signature elegant look, Cracked Pepper allows homeowners to create sophisticated spaces that feel equally inviting and relaxing, perfect for rooms such as cozy living room ideas.

Limitless, Glidden

Glidden's 2024 Color of the Year was Limitless: a warm, honey-toned neutral shade. The fresh color is highly versatile by perfectly balancing the understated nature of neutrals whilst also bringing a pop of primary color to the home.

Limitless has been crafted carefully to work well across many interior styles, and can be used to make a loud statement as much as it can create a calming backdrop in the home.

Ironside, Dutch Boy

Ironside, a deep olive shade, claimed the title of Dutch Boy's 2024 Color of the Year. Responding to the rising popularity of deep shades in the home, Ironside balances both sophistication and comfort.

Ironside also links to nature, creating an organic feel in the home that is a great choice for creating a timeless space, such as dining room ideas.

Bay Blue, Minwax

Bay Blue, announced by Minwax is a wood stain, falling somewhere between a green and a blue. Designed to enhance natural wood throughout the home, Bay Blue aims to propel homeowners to get creative and use the shade to elevate spaces – or furniture items – with its uplifting hue.

The stain works well with warm-toned wood as well as copper, and perfectly complements decorating with vintage, as well as translating well to more modern spaces.

Upward, Sherwin-Williams

Sherwin-Williams unveiled a versatile blue hue as its 2024 Color of the Year, Upward SW 6239, that can be used across a wide range of interior styles. Inspired to create spaces that feel relaxed and welcoming, the new color aims to promote a peaceful feel in residential projects.

Opt to use the color on all four walls of a room, or for a more reserved introduction of blue into the home, you can use the calming color to decorate furniture pieces.

Anthology Collection, Sherwin-Williams

Offering a color trend report in addition to its Color of the Year, Sherwin-Williams launched Anthology: a collection of 48 hues for 2024. Divided into four key color families: blues and greens, reds and purples, deeps and darks, and delicate tints, the collection is all about boosting well-being in the home.

Balancing vibrant hues with understated neutrals, the selection collectively acts as staple colors for the home that create warming and relaxing spaces that inspire personality.

Sweet Treats, Little Greene

Little Greene's 2024 color palette was titled Sweet Treats, and it's all about replicating the rich and indulgent shades associated with iconic desserts. A collection of nine hues, each tone is a fresh take on neutrals that feels instantly warming and sophisticated.

Thanks to the collection's timeless colors, they are ideal for multiple uses in the home, whilst their richness makes them perfect for creating cozy fall color schemes.

Viridis, Graham & Brown

Interior brand Graham & Brown announced its Color of the Year for 2024 as Viridis, a soft and earthy shade of green. Designed to create restful and restorative spaces in the home, the new hue takes reference from nature and promotes an organic look.

Not only did Graham & Brown unveil a color for the year ahead, but also its design of the year: New Eden, a green-toned forestry print that pairs beautifully with Viridis and is available as wallpaper, curtains, and blinds.

Blue Nova, Benjamin Moore

Benjamin Moore's unveiled Blue Nova as it's color for 2024; a mid-tone blue that has warm violet undertones to it. Centered around the core theme of juxtaposition, the new hue is inspired by the night sky and has an intriguing mystical feel to it.

Color experts at Benjamin Moore suggest that this blue is versatile to be used throughout different rooms in the home and is a more adventurous take on classic navy shades.

Peach Fuzz, Pantone

Pantone's Color of the Year for 2024 was unveiled as Peach Fuzz, described as a 'warm and cozy' peach shade. Unlike the occurring theme of darker, moodier colors that have somewhat dominated 2024 color trends, Peach Fuzz establishes a more vibrant, playful trend.

While it's fair to say opinions on Peach Fuzz have been divided, we're intrigued to see how homeowners and interior designers decide to channel this standout color.
