The 2025 nominees for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame have been announced, featuring a diverse group of iconic musicians. Among the nominees are Mariah Carey, Chubby Checker, Cyndi Lauper, OutKast, and Phish. The list also includes the Black Crowes and Oasis, two sets of musical brothers known for their public feuds and recent reunions.
Other nominees for this year include Bad Company, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Joy Division/New Order, Maná, Soundgarden, and the White Stripes. Eight of the 14 nominees are first-time contenders, such as Bad Company, the Black Crowes, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Maná, OutKast, and Phish.
Mariah Carey and Chubby Checker stand out as impactful candidates, with Carey boasting 19 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and Checker known for his popular songs like “The Twist” and “Let’s Twist Again.” Oasis, a dominant British act from the 1990s, and the Black Crowes, known for their mix of Southern boogie and blues harmonica, are also on the list.

Cyndi Lauper, rising to fame in the 1980s with hits like “Time After Time” and “Girls Just Want To Have Fun,” has been recognized for her contributions. OutKast, consisting of André 3000 and Big Boi, have earned six Grammys and a reputation for pushing the boundaries of hip-hop.
The 2025 Inductees will be revealed in late April, with the induction ceremony set to take place in Los Angeles this fall. Artists must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years before they are eligible for induction. The selection process involves voting by over 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry professionals, considering criteria such as an artist’s impact on others, career longevity, innovation, and excellence in style and technique.
Last year’s inductees included Mary J. Blige, Cher, Foreigner, A Tribe Called Quest, Kool & The Gang, Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Matthews Band, and Peter Frampton. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame continues to honor legendary musicians who have left a lasting mark on the music industry.
