In December 2024, the NFL Network announced that teams are starting to budget for a 2025 salary cap between $265 and $275 million, an increase of at least $10 million per team.
With most teams in the league already looking towards the 2025 season, below is the current cap space for all 32 teams. Cap space is fluid and evolves as teams make moves to improve their rosters.
2025 NFL Salary Cap Space
Most teams are looking toward the 2025 NFL season. Below are teams ranked 11-32 in terms of salary cap.
- 11. Cincinnati Bengals $47,587,407
- 12. Los Angeles Rams $46,601,722
- 13. San Francisco 49ers $46,509,688
- 14. Denver Broncos $45,246,255
- 15. Tennessee Titans $44,196,218
- 16. New York Giants $43,380,069
- 17. Jacksonville Jaguars $35,661,564
- 18. Indianapolis Colts $28,397,573
- 19. Carolina Panthers $21,629,869
- 20. New York Jets $20,950,158
- 21. Philadelphia Eagles $19,821,816
- 22. Baltimore Ravens $17,109,460
- 23. Tampa Bay Buccaneers $11,743,557
- 24. Kansas City Chiefs $11,503,627
- 25. Houston Texans $6,208,54
- 26. Dallas Cowboys ($285,056)
- 27. Buffalo Bills ($7,204,002)
- 28. Atlanta Falcons ($7,962,791)
- 29. Miami Dolphins ($11,909,730)
- 30. Seattle Seahawks ($27,452,016)
- 31. Cleveland Browns ($29,998,764)
- 32. New Orleans Saints ($52,617,537)
Seven teams are currently over the cap and will need to do work to get back under the cap.
The New Orleans Saints are the most over the cap and need to do a lot of work to get back under the NFL salary cap.
The Bengals have a lot of cap space, barely missing out on cracking the top 10 list. It will be interesting to see if they can keep both Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Chase is mandatory and he will get top priority but Higgins has been a very valuable wideout as well.
Puka Nacua is not eligible for a new contract yet, which means the Rams can spend elsewhere in 2025. Ranking 12th in the NFL salary cap, the Rams are in a good spot.
Top 10 Teams 2025 NFL Salary Cap
Now, we will get to the top 10 teams in the NFL with the most salary cap in 2025. We start with the 10th-ranked team, the Green Bay Packers.
10. Green Bay Packers $50,338,659
The Green Bay Packers made it to the playoffs but lost to the Eagles in the wild-card round.
They have the 10th highest salary cap in the NFL in 2025. Green Bay does not typically spend a lot of money but they would be wise to target WRs to improve the position.
The Packers have a good team and can improve it in the offseason.
9. Pittsburgh Steelers $52,353,766
The Pittsburgh Steelers got trounced in the wild-card round by the Baltimore Ravens. Pittsburgh has the ninth most salary cap in the NFL in 2025.
One major weakness is the WR group. With Tee Higgins possibly becoming a free agent, the Steelers need to target him to improve a lackluster WR group.
Two other positions that need improvement are the defensive line and secondary for the Steelers.
The Steelers need a QB but should not shell out a lot for a QB on the market. No QB available makes the Steelers better.
A team that typically does not spend money needs to change their ways and go out and spend money in the offseason to improve.
8. Detroit Lions $57,584,933
A scary thought, the Detroit Lions have a lot of cap space in 2025.
A Super Bowl favorite can improve in the offseason.
They need help in the secondary and should spend on a corner in the offseason.
The Lions are stacked on offense. They will have Aidan Hutchinson back in 2025.
One of the only weaknesses on the team is the secondary, which the Lions should address in the offseason.
7. Chicago Bears $66,013,403
The Chicago Bears have the seventh-most salary cap in the NFL in 2025.
Chicago needs to improve their offensive line. Caleb Williams was under pressure all season and the Bears need to spend money on protecting Williams.
Hiring a head coach and protecting Williams are the top two priorities in the offseason for Chicago.
6. Minnesota Vikings $70,527,543
The Vikings should not pay Sam Darnold a big contract in the offseason. The final two games, week 18 and the wild-card round, proved Darnold is not the answer at the QB position.
J.J. McCarthy will return in 2025 and he should be the starter.
Do not spend on Darnold and see if McCarthy is the long-term answer at the QB position.
Minnesota should improve their offensive line and secondary.
With the sixth most cap space in the NFL in 2025, the Vikings can vastly improve an already solid roster.
5. Arizona Cardinals $71,693,263
The Arizona Cardinals have the fifth most salary cap space in the NFL in 2025.
Arizona could use a pass rusher and another wide receiver to pair with Marvin Harrison Jr.
The Cardinals do not have a top pass rusher and could use help to attack opposing QBs.
Arizona has a good team but they need to spend money to improve and be a viable threat in the division and NFC.
4. Los Angeles Chargers $73,170,714
The LA Chargers have the fourth-highest salary cap in the NFL in 2025.
They improved drastically in 2024 but got crushed in the wild-card round against the Houston Texans. Justin Herbert had an awful game.
LA needs to give Herbert more weapons and spending on WRs should be a priority.
Ladd McConkey came on strong but he is more of a slot receiver. The Chargers need a reliable outside WR for Herbert.
With a lot of cap space, the Chargers can improve an already good roster.
3. Washington Commanders $89,640,464
The Commanders hit big time on QB Jayden Daniels in last year’s NFL Draft.
Now, improving the roster around him should be a top priority in the offseason.
Daniels already led the Commanders to a playoff victory.
Protecting Daniels would only help him in his second year.
Washington should spend on the offensive line in the offseason.
Another need is boosting their defensive line and getting a run-stopper.
Washington hit on the most important position and now needs to improve the team around Daniels.
2. Las Vegas Raiders $92,522,914
The Las Vegas Raiders have the second most salary cap space in the NFL in 2025.
Vegas needs a QB but paying for one is not the way to go. They need to hit on a rookie QB. Vegas has the sixth pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and should try and move up to draft the QB they want.
If they can get a QB, spending money to improve the roster is a top priority. They need to improve the offensive line, get a WR, get a cheaper running back, and improve their defense.
This is a team that needs a lot but with a lot of salary cap, they need to spend wisely.
1. New England Patriots $120,541,728
The New England Patriots have the highest salary cap in the NFL in 2025.
They already have a promising QB as Drake Maye looked good in his rookie year.
This makes the WR position the most important for the team.
New England has the fourth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and they need to draft a wide receiver to improve the offense.
They have arguably the worst receiver group in the league. Drafting a wide receiver and spending to get a WR should be a top priority for the Patriots.
Another need is a pass rusher. They could not get to the opposing QBs in 2024. Spending on a pass rusher should also be a top priority.
With the fourth overall pick and a lot of cap space, the Patriots can help Maye a lot by improving the WR group and defense.
