The first day of Senior Bowl Practices has passed, and the hype train is building for some of the players in attendance. The Minnesota Vikings and every other NFL team are in attendance, but it gives them a hands-on view of players in a unique environment.
Several of the players at the all-star game are seen as a fit for the team as they look to build off a strong 2024 season. Some of those players stood out on Tuesday at practice, and we wanted to share those with you.
If we noticed, we know the Vikings noticed.
Azareye’h Thomas, CB, Florida State
The big cornerback prospect out of Florida State needed a big week, as the film showed flashes of his brilliance. His confirmed size is now just under 6-2, which means he fits what Brian Flores looks for. In practice, he showed he was worthy of more attention. He shined in one-on-ones, breaking up passes and mirroring guys during their routes.
Grey Zabel, OL, North Dakota State
Grey Zabel was seen as someone who could really improve their draft stock during the Senior Bowl. Most often, FCS players getting to go against some bigger names in terms of talent gives them a boost, and Zabel kept that narrative alive after day one. I honestly don’t think he lost a rep all day in Mobile and held his own against some of the country’s best edge rushers and defensive linemen. He is very much in consideration for the Vikings at 24 with a strong finish to the week.
Marcus Yarns, RB, Delaware
Marcus Yarns is another FCS player who shined during the first day of practice down in Mobile. Traditional running backs can have difficulty separating themselves at the Senior Bowl, but Yarns is anything but that. He fits into what the NFL looks for at the position in 2025, with him showing contact balance and receiving skills that can make him productive. With the Vikings’ need at the running back position, he should be a target on day three of the draft.
