2025 NFL Draft: Steelers may face Shedeur Sanders twice a season

One of the worst-kept secrets since Ben Roethlisberger retired from the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2022 has been their struggle to find his replacement. From Mitchell Trubisky to Kenny Pickett, Mason Rudolph, Justin Fields, Russell Wilson, and potentially back to Fields again in 2025, the Steelers are still searching for stability at the most important position in football.

One of the Steelers’ AFC North rivals, the Cleveland Browns, has also struggled to find their long-term answer at quarterback, as their Deshaun Watson experiment may be nearing its end.

The Browns were reportedly one of the few teams to meet with one of the top QB prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft, Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

Insider Mary Kay Cabot also argued that, contrary to current rumors suggesting Sanders may prefer to play elsewhere, he would be open to joining the Browns if they select him with the third overall pick in the draft.

Although the Pittsburgh Steelers are dealing with quarterback issues of their own, they would likely scoff at the idea of Cleveland attempting to develop Sanders or playing him twice a season, given how QBs Johnny Manziel, Baker Mayfield, and Watson turned out under their leadership.
