2025 NFL draft: Giants select two-way star in Lance Zierlein’s first mock

Most NFL draft experts believe the New York Giants will take a quarterback with the third overall selection in this year’s draft if the right situation presents itself.

The consensus is that there may not be a “generational” quarterback talent in this draft that warrants a top 5 pick but NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein has a different take.

In Zierlein’s latest 2025 mock draft, the Tennessee Titans select Miami quarterback Cam Ward at No. 1 overall after trying to trade out of the spot.

At No. 2, Zierlein predicts the Cleveland Browns will take Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter to offset the loss of Myles Garrett, who has requested a trade and will likely get it.

The Giants then select Colorado’s Travis Hunter, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, at No. 3. Hunter can give the Giants relief and an upgrade in all three phases of the game.

Two-way talent in the Big Apple! I like it! The Giants had the second-fewest interceptions in the league in 2024 (five). The ballhawking Hunter can help New York do a better job of taking the ball away — and score some touchdowns as a part-time receiver.

The Giants bypass Shedeur Sanders, who goes to the Las Vegas Raiders at No. 6 here.

There are a lot of experts who believe the Giants will not pass on Sanders if he is available, but there is a lot that’ll happen between now and the draft that could change minds.
