Rory McIlroy won the 2025 Masters on Sunday at Augusta, and in addition to his first green jacket and the completion of the career grand slam, McIlroy also banked the largest first-place prize in Masters history: $4.2 million.
McIlroy won it in epic fashion: with a birdie on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff over Justin Rose.
Golf has essentially been in a gold rush since LIV Golf launched in 2022, with purses and prize money in the men's pro game rising. With its $1 million increase from the 2024 purse, the Masters offered a larger jackpot than most PGA Tour signature events and all LIV Golf events, which offer $20 million purses and $4 million to winners.
Last year's winner Scottie Scheffler earned $3.6 million from Augusta's $20 million purse.
Scheffler was right back in the mix heading into the weekend, and he shot a final-round 69 to finish fourth and claim $1.08 million. Bryson DeChambeau played alongside McIlroy in the final pairing, setting up what many thought would be a head-to-head duel, but he struggled throughout the round and signed for 75.
In addition to the prizes below, the Masters announced that players who did not make the 36-hole cut will receive $25,000.
Here's the prize-money breakdown for the 2025 Masters.
