LIV Golf returned to Australia for its annual stop at Adelaide, offering another $25 million purse with $4 million to the individual winner and $5 million total for the team event.
Adelaide is typically one of LIV's most raucous crowds, and Patrick Reed ignited fans in Round 1 with an ace at the par-3 12th "watering hole," which is essentially LIV's version of the 16th hole at TPC Scottsdale at the WM Phoenix Open.
Joaquin Niemann got the big prize Sunday, winning by three shots to capture the title. The 26-year-old Chilean won for the third time in LIV Golf, and like last year (where he won twice before April) it appears he may be building momentum for the Masters, where he earned a special exemption based on his play around the world.
In the team competition, Sergio Garcia's Fireballs GC won by six shots over Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII, which was looking to go 2-for-2 in team titles to start the season. Garcia’s teammates are Abraham Ancer, David Puig and newcomer Luis Masaveu. A significant new wrinkle this season is how all four scores count each round in team play.
