At the final declaration stage, the Paddy Power Gold Cup runners stand at 15 – which are headed by the Paul Nicholls-trained Ginny’s Destiny, who will be looking to give the former champion trainer his fourth win in this big Cheltenham race.
Final Paddy Power Gold Cup Runners Down To 15 For Cheltenham November Meeting Highlight
We are down to 15 Paddy Power Gold Cup runners ahead of Saturday’s big Cheltenham November Meeting race. With the final entries now announced.
Like most years, the market with the best horse racing betting sites is a tight one, with many chances according to the layers.
These include last year’s third Il Ridoto, who is back rated 6lbs lower. And also, the 2023 fourth Fugitif, who returns off a pound lower mark.
This pair, however, are both behind the likely Paddy Power Gold Cup favourite – Ginny’s Destiny, the mount of Harry Cobden.
Harry Cobden Looking Forward To Ginny’s Destiny Ride
Last year’s British champion jumps jockey Harry Cobden landed the Paddy Power Gold Cup last year and in Ginny’s Destiny he’s got an excellent chance of adding to that.
Cobden survived a last fence blunder on Stage Star to win the November Meeting showpiece for the first time in 2023 and he’s gone on record recently as saying “I really wouldn’t want to ride any other horse”.
Ginny’s Destiny gets in off a mark of 155, which is also exactly the same rating as Stage Star last year and comes here with top course form.
His last runs at Prestbury Park read 1-1-1-2 – including winning at this meeting 12 months ago (cavani.co.uk Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase, which was run on the Sunday.
Since then this Paul Nicholls-trained 8 year-old has run second to Grey Dawning in the Turners Novices’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival (watch below). Plus was last seen taking silver behind Il Etait Temps at Aintree in the Manifesto Novices’ Chase.
Nicholls will be looking for his fourth Paddy Power Gold Cup win – having also won the race in 2014 (Caid Du Berlais) and 2012 (Al Ferof).

2022 Winner GA Law Looking For More Cheltenham Glory
The 2024 Paddy Power Gold Cup runners could also see a past winner in GA Law, as the Jamie Snowden-trained 8 year-old is also one of the latest 17 entries.
He landed the race two years ago – beating French Dynamite by 3/4 of a length – but has only won once since (from 9 starts). He’s also back running off a 13lb higher rating.
However, on a plus, will head here fitter than most – having run well last month (2nd) at Chepstow and having two other possible runners – Jetoile and Editeur Du Gite in behind.
The last horse to win back his Paddy Power Gold Cup title was Cyfor Malta. Who won the race in 1998 and 2002.
Jamie Snowden told Andy Newton before the race – “GA Law is in great form and has improved for his comeback run. We couldn’t be happier going into this (Paddy Power Gold Cup) at a track we know he loves. Fingers crossed for some good luck”
