2024 NFL draft: Giants receive no compensatory picks

The NFL annually grants teams compensatory draft picks based on free agency. To qualify, teams must have “more or better qualifying free agents lost than gained in a particular year,” which is decided based on a league formula that remains largely secret.

This year, the NFL granted 34 compensatory picks to teams, none of which were given to the New York Giants.

The lack of compensatory picks was expected. The Giants’ loss of Julian Love and Nick Gates, plus the additions of Bobby Okereke, A’Shawn Robinson, Parris Campbell, and Rakeem Nunez-Roches put compensatory picks out of reach.

Unfortunately, the Giants’ division rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys, each received multiple picks.

The Giants have seven picks in this year’s draft, one in each round except for the second and seventh. The Giants get two picks in the second round and have none in the seventh.
