If the NFL regular season were to end today, the New York Giants would hold the second overall selection in the 2024 NFL draft, per Tankathon.
The Carolina Panthers (1-8) are in the No. 1 overall slot but they do not hold the pick. They traded that pick in April to the Chicago Bears as part of the package used to select quarterback Bryce Young.
The Giants are part of a trio of teams with a 2-8 record — along with New England and Arizona — but since they have the weakest strength of schedule (.522) they are in the second slot.
New England, who the Giants play in two weeks, are third, and Arizona is fourth. Chicago (3-7) would select fifth with their own selection.
With eight weeks remaining this season, the Giants have a 38.4% chance to select first overall, which is the second-best odds in the NFL. The Bears are first at 39.3%.
If the Giants do end up with the No. 2 overall pick, Tankathon believes they will select North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye.
