There was a point during the 2023 college football season when Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis was being discussed as a Heisman Trophy candidate and one of the best quarterbacks in the country. Unfortunately, an injury cut his season short and now he is working his way back to full strength ahead of the 2024 NFL draft.
Travis spoke at the NFL Scouting Combine and when asked if there were any players in the NFL he’d love to play with aside from former teammates, he quickly said Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens.
FSU QB Jordan Travis, asked if there’s players outside of his former teammates he wants to play with in the NFL, gave two names off the top of his head:
-Davante Adams
-George Pickens— Brooke Pryor (@bepryor) March 1, 2024
Travis’ primary selling point is high athleticism. Travis can do things on the move that few players can and is a threat to break the pocket and run on any play. His passing mechanics need work and like most college quarterbacks, isn’t asked to go through progressions or anticipate throws. But he’s a smart player, a hard worker and definitely worth a pick as a developmental prospect for a team with an entrenched starter. Do the Steelers fit the bill?
