The 2024 Emmys nominations are set to be unveiled on Wednesday. Tony Hale, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Television Academy chair Cris Abrego will announce this year's nominees from the El Capitan Theatre in a ceremony that will be livestreamed. Tony Hale, known for his role in Veep, is a three-time Emmy winner, while Sheryl Lee Ralph won the best supporting actress in a comedy series Emmy in 2022 for her role in Abbott Elementary.
Abbott Elementary, which concluded its third season in May, has been renewed for a fourth season. The 76th Emmys are scheduled to air live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 15, from 5-8 p.m. PT / 8-11 p.m. ET on ABC. The Creative Arts ceremonies, where a majority of the Emmy trophies are awarded, are set for Saturday, September 7, and Sunday, September 8.
The host for the ABC Emmys ceremony has not yet been announced, but Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon, and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay are set to executive produce the telecast for the second consecutive year. The 2023 Emmys, which took place in January 2024 due to the 2023 writers and actors strikes, saw Succession, The Bear, and Beef as the big winners in the drama, comedy, and limited series categories, respectively.
Succession, in its final season, dominated the drama acting categories, with Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook, and Matthew Macfadyen winning in their respective categories. The Bear secured wins for best actor, supporting actor, and supporting actress in a comedy series, while Beef stars Ali Wong and Steven Yeun took home the lead acting limited series awards.
With the 2023 Emmys honoring Succession's final season, the drama field will see a new winner this year. To be eligible for the 2024 Emmys, television programming had to air between June 1, 2023, and May 31, 2024.
