2023 WNBA All-Star Game reportedly heading to Las Vegas for the third time

Las Vegas basketball fans, have yourself a year. Your Las Vegas Aces brought the city its first-ever professional championship back in September when the Becky Hammon-led squad defeated the Connecticut Sun 3-1 in the 2022 WNBA Finals.

And now, according to reports from Annie Costabile of The Chicago Sun-Times, Las Vegas is expected to host the 2023 WNBA All-Star Game.

Of course, Vegas is no stranger to hosting the star-studded event. The first time the city hosted the WNBA All-Star Game was back in July of 2019 when Team Delle Donne defeated Team Wilson, 129-126. Two years later, following the 2020 Wubble season, the league returned to the City of Sin for another All-Star Game. That event saw the USA Women’s Basketball team take on the WNBA All-Stars in a tune-up before heading to Tokyo for the Olympics.

Now, for the third time in five seasons, it appears the spotlight will again be on Las Vegas.

It’ll be interesting to see if there is a message the league tries to get across in this upcoming season’s event. Last year, players wore Brittney Griner jerseys during the game to show support for their friend and colleague who’d been wrongfully detained in Russia at the time (now free and back on U.S. soil).

Whatever the league decides to do this time, it must keep the tiny MVP trophy around.
