It is here so start making your plans. The 2023 schedule for the New York Jets is out and there will be a lot of eyes on the team this year.
The Jets will indeed have the maximum of five primetime games this season. They have a late-season Thursday night game for the second year in a row, two appearances on Monday Night Football and, for the first time since 2011, an appearance — two, in fact — on NBC’s Sunday Night Football.
Add in the Black Friday game against the Dolphins and the Jets will have six games that are in a stand-alone slot.
The season kicks off with a Monday night home game on September 11 that will help set the early tone in the AFC East as the Jets will welcome the two-time reigning kings of the East, the Buffalo Bills.
Week 2 sees the Jets traveling for the first time in the regular season and it’ll be a matchup of Rodgers and his old rivals, the Dallas Cowboys.
In Week 3, the Jets get their first chance to end their lengthy 14-game losing streak to the New England Patriots.
Week 4 marks the Jets’ first Sunday night game in 12 years and it’s a big one. Patrick Mahomes and the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs come to town. That caps off what is a big test in the season’s first quarter for the Jets.
The Jets head to Denver in Week 5 before returning home for a date in Week 6 with the other team that played in last season’s Super Bowl, the Philadelphia Eagles. Of course, there’s also that whole thing about the Jets having never beaten the Eagles in the regular season. October 15 is their shot.
The Jets get their bye in Week 7. Coming out of the bye, it’s their “road trip” to New York as they’ll be the visiting team against the Giants.
Back-to-back primetime games follow the Giants. First is a Monday night home showdown with Justin Herbert and the Chargers in Week 9 followed by a Week 10 trip to the Las Vegas Strip for a Sunday night game against the Raiders. The Jets hope that will be the first of at least two trips to Vegas this season, with one coming in February.
Following the Vegas trip is New York’s second meeting with the Bills in Buffalo. After the rematch with the Bills in Week 11, New York finally sees the Miami Dolphins for the first time this season in Week 12, which was the previously announced first-ever Black Friday game on Amazon Prime Video.
That game also starts a three-game homestand for the Jets. Weeks 13 and 14 see the Atlanta Falcons and Houston Texans visit MetLife.
Three of the Jets’ last four are on the road, starting with Week 15 at Miami before their home finals Week 16 on Christmas Eve against the Washington Commanders.
New York wraps up their season with road trips to Cleveland on a Thursday night and then New England for their season finale.
