The New England Patriots traded down from the No. 14 overall pick of the 2023 NFL draft with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Coach Bill Belichick is known for wheeling and dealing on draft day trades, and Thursday night was no different. Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the trade was for Pittsburgh’s No. 17 and No. 120 picks.
Oregon’s Christian Gonzalez and Ohio State’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba were still on the board when the Patriots traded down. So the Patriots are taking a bit of a gamble for added value later on down the line.
The Steelers moved up to select Georgia offensive tackle Broderick Jones, who is a player that was mocked often to the Patriots.
We’ll see who’s still available when the Patriots come up on the board at No. 17.
